This weeks Friday Finds on IGTV has been one of the most heavily requested… it’s the turn of high street favourite Zara. One of the largest international fashion companies; their consistent stock updates make it the perfect place to pick up lower budget, but on-trend, key items of the season.
During my visit, it was no surprise that nearly everything I selected was a jacket or a coat - as I think that’s what Zara do so brilliantly. Although there is always small adjustments I may make, such as removing a button here and there, the design and quality are usually strong. I find that that the tops and other pieces can feel a little cheaper, and wouldn’t be suitable for long-term wear.
In the case of stores like Zara, be careful not to fall into the fast-fashion trap. There can be some beautiful pieces so it’s always worth a look, but double check that you really really need it. Take time to feel the fabric, and really think: am I going to want to wear that in a year or two? BEFORE making any impulse purchases.
Stylist secret: Whilst shopping at high-street stores you’ll often find clothing to be more static, as the fabrics tend to be predominantly man-made. If you plan to wear something you know is more prone to this, be sure to smother yourself in body lotion when you get out of the bath or shower - so as to counteract the static. This will make a massive difference, especially in the winter as a lot of dry skin reacts with the clothing.
