It can be hard to pull off looking commanding in a dress.

So many come in short sleeves, which for most women I work with means always having to wear a jacket or resorting to the dreaded cardigan.

I am therefore always on the look out for long dresses with sleeves, which make getting dressed in the morning super fast as there are minimal decisions to be made as the outfit is one item and some shoes and maybe a necklace and you are good to go.

I am also pleased that all the brands featured here are British, which I only realised after i'd made my selection.

Here are my 3 of the best current long sleeve dresses

The Fold

Harvard Dress- £295

I regularly visit The Fold with my clients who work in corporations or in a role that require a professional smart look. They are a small British brand, based in London, and have a great selection of dresses with sleeves, in a range of fabrics from comfortable jersey to more structured wool. The dresses are great quality and all are lined, which give a great finish.

This is a tailored, lightweight navy wool dress with a graphic check print and pleated neckline.

Libby London

Sloane Dress - £198.00

Libby London is another great brand, located in London, aimed at the working woman. They have many styles with sleeves but this is my personal favourite. The Sloane has a draped silhouette, and contouring body pleats at the waist and neckline, a flattering boat neck and elbow length sleeves

It is also available in Green, Aubergine, Navy and Ocean.

Reiss

Elle Dress - £180

Reiss is aimed at a slightly younger demographic and has a lot of dresses without sleeves. But they are beginning to cotton on to the fact that there are a lot of women who do not want to have their arms showing.  Elle dress has a knot front feature with round-neck, and a slim fitting silhouette.

Lizzie Edwards is London's best personal stylist for working women over thirty five, helping them with their business image and personal brand.
